A popular sports conspiracy theory is the idea that the soviets intentionally lost the famous game against the American's at the 1980 Olympics. The theory claims the USSR heard President Jimmy Carter was planning a boycott of the summer Moscow games and grew concerned that Americas decision would hinder the games.
