5 World Speed Records. These are 5 of the coolest speed records ever. These things are FAST! The fastest car, the fastest animal and some other speed records all in 1 video!
5. Fastest Train
Shanghai Maglev is the fastest train in the world with a maximum operational speed of 267 MPH ( 430 km/h ) and average speed of 156 MPH ( 251km/h ). The Maglev started commercial operations in April 2004. The train was constructed by a joint venture of Siemens and ThyssenKrupp. Japan is currently developing trains that use magnetic levitation technology ( floating trains ). They are on schedule to be ready in 2027 and will reach speeds of 310 MPH ( 499 km/h )!
4. Fastest Plane
You will be surprised to hear that this record was set in the 60's! The X-15 still holds the official world record for the fastest speed ever reached by a manned aircraft: Mach 6.72, which is 6.72 times the speed of sound, or 4,520 MPH ( 7274 km/h ). The rocket-powered X-15 was part of a fleet of X-plane experimental aircraft, operated jointly by NASA and the U.S. Air Force. Neil Armstrong was one of the pilots of this plane.
3. Fastest Bird Dive
The Peregrine falcon is the fastest diving bird in the world. That also makes it the fastest travelling animal in the world. We consider National Geographic a reliable enough source and according to them the highest measured speed of a peregrine falcon is 242 MPH ( 389 km/h ). Or 50% faster than the fastest train in the world…
2. Fastest Motorcycle
With only 9 units produced, the Tomahawk is the fastest motorcycle ever build. Using a 500 HP V10 engine taken from a Dodge Viper, the model is difficult to match in terms of power. Theoretically, the bike can reach 350 mph ( 563 km/h ) but at that point, the laws of physics and aerodynamics would make it fly off the road. It is not street legal, it hasn't reached that speed but come on, look at that beast!
1. Production Car
The Bugatti Veyron was developed for breaking records, and it’s done its job! The Super Sport can make it to 60 MPH ( 97 km/h ) in just 2.4 seconds and has hit a top speed of 267 MPH ( 430 km/h, same speed as the fastest train! ). Horsepower weighs in at 1,200 to go along with its $2.4 million asking price. The Hennessy Venom reached 270,49 MPH earlier this year but barely missed out on qualifying as a production car ( 29 made, 30 needed to qualify )
