APPLE, has seen a UK home grown collaboration, introducing a seamless musical mix of R&B with the influential ‘skippy’ high hats of London’s old ‘skool’ Garage scene, formidably complimented with a Grime sound that just makes sense.
Expect to tease your ears with the summery tones of the West Coast, intrinsically complimented by the texturing voices of Kane, who perfectly executes a ‘rap singing’ ‘skippy’ voice and Marcus Beatz spits the UK Grime sound with tangible flow.
This track, which has been inspired by the Adam & Eve story of ‘forbidden fruit’ depicts how a woman can control a man’s mind, and has been cleverly transformed into contemporary times, complimented by a London shot video by Nathaniel Media.
The track itself was written by the pair and as this is just one of the many creative talents up their sleeve, it is fair to predict that this special duo are truly set to showcase what UK talent have to offer.
Kane Leeson, born 22nd April 1995, known by his stage name Kane, is a London-based recording artist, songwriter, producer and actor. He was born and raised in Tottenham, North London. When Kane picked up his toy guitar at the age of 4 and serenaded his family with Usher’s ‘Nice and Slow’, it was clear that Kane had a musical ear from a young age.
In order to enhance his musical ability, Kane was enrolled at the Anna Shares theatre school in London. This paid off when he received the lead role in the award-winning short film ‘Winnie and the Duppy Bat’ which aired on US TV channel HBO. Despite his ability for acting, it was clear that his love for music remained when he wrote and recorded his first song, ‘Baby Keep Smiling’, in his grandfather’s studio. Kane gained valuable knowledge and experience over the following years as he honed his craft in and around the studio environment.
At secondary school, one of his chosen options was a diploma in Creative Arts and Media which developed his skills in directing and editing music videos. After passing his diploma, Kane auditioned for a vocal course at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance. In order to gain a place on this course he had to perform a live rendition of Al Green’s classic ‘Let’s Stay Together’ to a former member of American soul band, The Drifters, which he delivered and was awarded a place on the course. On his 17th birthday, Kane was signed up to Urban Hit Factory who took him under their wings and he started working with producer/songwriter Marcus Beatz. Together they wrote and recorded Kane’s first EP ‘Dreams’.
Kane went on to work with the likes of acclaimed songwriter Sam Hook, who has written for
Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, and Mary J Blige, releasing the track ‘Turn It Up’, featuring Sneakbo. Within the same time frame, Kane also released ‘Raindrops’ and performed overseas at Summer Love Festival in Cyprus, which was headlined by TinieTempah. His live presence continued to grow and develop as he started to perform across the capital including I Luv Live and The Drop, which was headlined by UK R&B sensation Angel. Kane also supported U.S songstress Ashanti at the IndigO2, and has performed alongside J Spades at Halo in Peterborough.
Following the success and lessons of debut E.P ‘Dreams’, Kane took a hiatus to grow and develop his unique sound. This development is reflected throughout his debut album, ‘Designed for Me’, which presents a plethora of new material and surprise collaborations.
