US rapper Kanye West will attempt to win over the Glastonbury festival when he performs later, following some controversy over his headline booking.
The divisive and unpredictable star will top the bill on the Pyramid Stage.
More than 134,000 people signed a petition objecting to his booking and organiser Emily Eavis had death threats on Twitter from a disgruntled fan.
Other acts performing on Saturday include Burt Bacharach, Pharrell Williams, George Ezra and Paloma Faith.
The weather on the Somerset site brightened up on Saturday following Friday’s rain, although more showers are forecast for Sunday.
Kanye West has called the petition ‘an insult to music fans all over the world’
Kanye West’s appearance is one of the weekend’s biggest talking points.
He is one of the biggest names in popular music, with 21 Grammy Awards under his belt and 11 million albums sold in the US alone.
However he is notoriously erratic and uncompromising, comparing himself to figures including Jesus and Leonardo Da Vinci, and occasionally launching into long mid-set rants.
‘Open-minded’ fans
At the Wireless Festival in London last summer, a 15-minute diatribe about his portrayal in the media led him to be booed by the crowd.
