Lionel Richie looked like he was struggling to believe the size of the crowd
Lionel Richie has drawn the biggest crowd of this year’s Glastonbury Festival, with at least 100,000 people estimated to have watched the singer.
The Pyramid Stage field was packed to see the star play hits like Dancing on the Ceiling, Hello and Say You Say Me.
Richie took the event’s traditional Sunday afternoon “legend” slot.
His crowd-pleasing performance came after Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama appeared on the same stage with US punk poet Patty Smith.
Veteran rock legends The Who will close the festival later with a headline slot on the Pyramid Stage.
Singer Roger Daltrey said the band would “close this year’s event with a bang” and take the audience on an “amazing journey” through their greatest hits.
But they will struggle to match the size of Richie’s crowd.
Richie followed the likes of Dolly Parton and Tom Jones in the Sunday afternoon slot
