The digger smashed into the building at the site of a cash machine
A digger has smashed through the front of a bank in an attempted ram raid.
Santander in Leighton Buzzard was left extensively damaged after the JCB was used to try to steal a cash machine.
A restaurant on the opposite side of Hockliffe Street has a hole in the wall, believed to be caused by the digger driving back and forth.
The digger was still embedded in the front of the bank on Monday morning. The road is likely to be closed for most of the day.
Police said it was not yet known whether anything was stolen.
