The EP’s introductory track and first up on the tracklist, ‘Money Bee’ features Zino Brown, Dee Pee (Section Boyz) and Bonkaz, a selection of some of the top emcees that are out right now. Rax is clearly absorbing the energy and world around him, resulting in the confident, self-assured ‘Money Bee’: a bumping track played best with the volume up high and the bass vibrating through the speakers. Since its premiere on Pigeons and Planes, the track has garnered support from the most influential platforms on both sides of the Atlantic. The EP starts with a bang andignites attention.
‘She Don’t Watch That’ follows, a track with sharp beats and a catchy hook that pulls you in. Featuring London emcee Rival, it’s obvious that Rax commands the respect and support of his fellow rappers and reps for the capital. With a chilled vibe and relatable, smart bars about relationships and the difficulties and perks which accompany them, the track demonstrates just why UK rap is what’s hot right now, and why Rax is the guy to watch.
Forever a master of adaptability, ‘Four Seasons’ sees Rax showcasing his intense emotion and eloquent lyricism over a jazz-inspired instrumental. With the bewitching, soulful vocals of Josh Osho, who contributes to the impressive roster of artist features on the EP, the track has a sunny, feel-good vibe and will have you dreaming of hazy summer days. The visuals of this track were premiered on Complex http://uk.complex.com/music/2016/02/premiere-rax-josh-osho-four-seasons-video and are the perfect accompaniment to thissummery track.
Demonstrating an ability to tackle multiple topics and a refusal to shy away from more serious themes, ‘Think Big’ is another side to Rax- the bars are paternal, inspirational and relate an important message- aim high, live life and ‘think big’, all over a captivating beat. The bonus track ‘We Alright’ sees Rax exhibiting his mad flow, energy and clever lyricism. The production is haunting, an absolute banger revisiting the trap elements of Money Bee, complementing the hard-hitting bars being spat by the South London rapper.
The 5-track project has an eclectic mix ofartists that contributes to its fascinating aura, drawing listeners in. Rax says that ‘each track has its own unique feeling, each flow paints a different colour’, a statement which cannot be denied.
