Just took my kid to see his second movie. He’s recovering from an infection
so isn’t in the mood for parks and museums, but is in the mood for cuddling
and sitting still. I highly recommend the Lego Movie.
It is technically brilliant. OK the bricks are rendered and not
stop-motion, but for the most part you can’t tell. Or maybe they are
stop-motion. It is that hard to tell.
The storyline is very simple. Basic heroes journey. The pace is brisk
enough for a 3 year old. The in-jokes and stuff aimed at adults are
*fantastic.* Watch out for the Billy Dee Williams gag. Finally a
non-homophobic gay joke in a children’s movie! I know. It was a second
until it clicked and then I was *”Woah … nicely done.”*
Saw the LEGO Movie with my son today. This trailer made it look unbearable,
but I was quite surprised. The stop motion is truly incredible, and the
story takes a wonderful twist.

I read it’s mostly CGI, but features some minimal real stop-motion
This is the first time in a long time that a trailer for an animated movie
looked good. Seriously, I was beginning to lose hope in the genre, but this
looks super fun!
