5. Andrea Yates
She confessed to drowning her five children in their bathtub on June 20, 2001. She waited for her husband to leave for work before commiting the horrendous crime. Police found the family dog locked up; her husband told that it had normally been allowed to run free, and was so when he had left the house that morning. This lead her psychiatrist to believe that she locked it in a cage to prevent it from interfering with her killing the children.
4. Aileen Wuornos
Wuornos was a serial killer who killed seven men in Florida in 1989 and 1990. Wuornos claimed that her victims had either raped or attempted to rape her while she was working as a prostitute, and that all of the homicides were committed in self-defense. She was convicted and sentenced to death for six of the murders and was executed by the State of Florida by lethal injection in 2002. Wuornos was the subject of the 2003 film 'Monster'.
