This list is based on the latest WHO ( World Health Organization ) study on alcohol consumption worldwide. The liter amount is based on Pure alcohol consumption among adults (age 15+) in litres per capita per year.
5. Romania – 14.4 liters
Romanians love their beer. 50% of their total alcohol consumption consists of beer. Another 28.9% of their consumption is wine. By far the highest percentage of any country in the top 5, making Romanians the snobbiest drinkers in this list…
4. Russian Federation – 15.1 liters
Good old Russia. Some of you probably expected them to be ranked number 1 even, but they have no less than 3 countries ahead of them still. Russians are always portrayed as big vodka drinkers which is probably justified. 51% of their consumption consists of spirits. Our wild guess is that, that 51% is consists mostly of vodka…

Beerlovers: 46,5%! Lots of spirits as well but very little wine. We are thinking a lot of those video's on the web titled 'crazy Russian' might in fact have a 'crazy Lithuanian' in them…

The Republic of Moldova, just to the east of Romania, has a population of around 3.55 million. Per capita, the average Moldovan drinks 16.8 liters of alcohol per year. What are they drinking? Your average beer and wine, but also lots of Divin, which is Moldovan cognac. When we say lots, we mean lots. Spirits account fo 64.5% of their total alcohol consumption. BTW they are projected to move up to the top spot in 2015!
