The US version of hit ITV drama Broadchurch will not return for a second series, it has been confirmed.
Renamed Gracepoint, the drama saw David Tennant reprise his role as a detective investigating the murder of a boy in a small town.
Breaking Bad star Anna Gunn co-starred as Det Ellie Miller, played by Olivia Coleman in the ITV original.
The drama delivered disappointing ratings for Fox, with viewers dropping from 4.8 million to 4 million.
The original ITV series drew an average of nine million viewers a week when it was broadcast in March last year.
The US version had originally been billed as a “limited series” and not a continuing drama, so another season was not necessarily expected.
However it is thought Fox could have renewed it had ratings been higher.
Written by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall, the series – which concluded last week – revealed a different killer to the UK original.
Broadchurch is set to return to UK screens in January, with Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Meera Syal joining the cast.
